Dr. Muhammad Kamran Qureshi

Position: Postdoctoral researcher

Department: Molecular Stress Physiology, CPSBB

The main area of Qureshi’s research is the identification and characterization of novel genes involved in the regulation of programmed cell death in the model plant species Arabidopsis thaliana. Forward and reverse genetics were employed to unravel the mechanisms of programmed cell death induced by fungal toxins, disrupting sphingolipid metabolism, and reactive oxygen species induced by herbicides. His studies provided a genetic link between sphingolipid metabolism and reactive oxygen species during programmed cell death
