Scientists from CPSBB took part in three national and international conferences in Bulgaria
Researchers from Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology took part in the 6th Balkan Conference on Biosciences, organized by University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski”, as well as in the anniversary conference “Traditions Meet Innovations”, marking the 80th anniversary of the Agricultural University-Plovdiv. The Institute of Molecular Biology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was a co-organizer of both events.
Among the main topics of the two conferences were sustainable agriculture, green and digital transformation, agri-food systems and bioeconomy, environmental and climate protection, genetics and cell biology, molecular biology and bioinformatics, microbiology and biotechnology, and more.
Researchers from the Departments of Molecular Stress Physiology and Crop Quantitative Genetics at hashtag#CPSBB — Dr. Nikola Staykov, Dr. Nikolay Anachkov, PhD, Sintiya Aneva, as well as PhD students Mihail Angelov, Lyudmil Tonchev, Gabriele Adornato, and Michael Wittenberg— presented posters and oral presentations featuring studies and results from the CPSBB’s research projects hashtag#RESIST, hashtag#CAFTA, hashtag#NatGenCrop, hashtag#BioCrops, and others.
The “Plant Cell Biotechnology” Department participated in this year’s Congress of Pharmacy, organized by the Bulgarian Scientific Pharmaceutical Society. Poster presentations showcased studies in the fields of metabolic disorders and obesity. Awards were presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liliya V. Mihaylova and Dr. Martina Savova for best presentations in the “Pharmacology” and “Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry” sections, respectively.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihaylova presented the research and partial results on the control of obesity, while Dr. Savova shared studies on metabolic disorders. Management with natural substances were the main highlights in both presentations.
