The Plant Cell Biotechnology Department of CPSBB presented in Italy studies of natural substances for longevity and obesity control

Prof. Milen Geogiev, Head of the Plant Cell Biotechnology Department at CPSBB, was the only guest speaker from Bulgaria at this year’s International Congress of the Association for the Study of Medicinal Plants and Natural Products in Naples, Italy. He presented studies with natural substances carried out by researchers at CPSBB, with the aim of developing natural products for longevity and obesity control.

Scientific results were also presented with poster presentations by Assoc. Prof. Liliya Mihaylova, Dr. Martina Savova and Eng. Biser Binev.

The congress brought together over 600 participants from all over the world – scientists, researchers, industrial experts, PhD candidates and students, who discussed the latest achievements in the field of natural products and their utilization in pharmacy and cosmetics for the benefit of human health.

The scientific program of the event covered a wide range of topics, including (ethno)pharmacology, chemistry and biological activity of natural products, metabolomics, bioengineering, bioinformatics, etc.
