Scientist from CPSBB was nominated for Pythagoras Prize for young researchers
Dr. Liliya Mihaylova, researcher from the Plant Cell Biotechnology Department of CPSBB, was among the first three awarded young scientists for the Pythagoras Prize of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science in the category “Life Sciences and Medicine”. The official awarding ceremony was held in Sofia on 19 May, 2023.
“It is an honor to be among the first 3 nominees for the Pythagoras Prize for Young Scientist in the category “Life Sciences and Medicine”. I am grateful to the management of the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology and the Scientific Council at the Institute of Microbiology “Stefan Angelov” for raising my nomination.
Overweight is a huge epidemic of our time and a major risk factor for developing chronic diseases and shortening life expectancy. Having the good fortune to work on a modern molecular pharmacology of obesity and longevity, I feel proud and at the same time responsible because of the social importance of the research in this field.
I would also like to express my gratitude to Prof. Dr. Milen Georgiev, who gave me the opportunity to develop my scientific research. I am grateful to our team for their dedication, precise work and unceasing desire for new knowledge.
Last but not least, I thank my family – those from whom I receive the strongest support and who make sense of everything I do”, says Dr. Liliya Mihaylova.
