A public exhibition in the center of Plovdiv marks 10 years since the establishment of CPSBB in Bulgaria
A public exhibition in the center of Plovdiv under the title “10 years of the Center for Excellence in Plant Sciences! Synergy for the Development of Science in Bulgaria” marked the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Center for Excellence in Plant Sciences. The exhibition was installed on the square in front of the Roman Stadium and was available to all citizens and guests of the city for a month. The exhibition retrospectively showcased milestones from the establishment and development of the first Bulgarian Center for Excellence in Plant Sciences, expressing gratitude to the institutions that helped the realization of this large-scale project – the European Commission and the Horizon 2020 Program, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria and the OP “Science and Education for Smart Growth”, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, as well as the Municipality of Plovdiv.
In 2015, a group of Bulgarian scientists in Plovdiv initiated the “PlantaSYST” project for the establishment of the first Bulgarian Center of Excellence in plant systems biology and biotechnology. The project attracted Bulgarian and foreign scientific institutes as partners and received the support of the European Commission, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria and Plovdiv Municipality.
Since its establishment, CPSBB has positioned itself among the most prestigious scientific institutes in Europe, implementing applied and fundamental scientific research with international impact, in favor of sustainable agriculture and human health. To date, the scientific team of CPSBB has implemented dozens of national and international projects. The number of scientific publications unequaled for Bulgaria in the field of plant systems biology and biotechnology – over 400 articles in prestigious journals with medium and high impact factor.
Attracting proficient scientists from Bulgaria and abroad, CPSBB has become an international center for innovation, fostering a dynamic environment for international knowledge exchange and professional development for a scientific career, according to the world standards.
The Center employs researchers from Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, Italy, South Africa, Argentina, Canada, India, etc. It also attracts students and doctoral students in Biotechnology, offering opportunities for career development and professional realization in large-scale international research projects.
All the achievements of CPSBB so far are a result of a successful collaboration between the scientific community, local authorities, the government, the European Union and the industry. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of scientific research, reaching new horizons in scientific discovery and inspiring future generations of researchers and innovators to work for the benefit of society.
