Conference Plant Biotechnology: Beyond
CPSBB, together with BioTech Atelier and Sofia Tech Park, is organizing the online conference Plant Biotechnology: Beyond on 25 September 2020.
The rapidly evolving Plant Biotechnology is embracing the new developments in plant genome analysis, high throughput technologies, and computational studies in order to provide solutions to agriculture, food and health. Biotechnology approaches nowadays are used to enhance crop production and to make plants more resilient to unfavorable environmental conditions. The recent advances in plant genomics and bioinformatics have greatly facilitated these processes. In addition, the rapidly developing technologies for metabolome analysis allowed us to identify and purify (new) plant-derived molecules with medical applications. The conferencees discuss how these plant biotechnology approaches result in production of new-generation crops as well as medications that can treat socially-significant diseases.
Topics of the conference include:
- Natural products utilisation (Moderator: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milen I. Georgiev)
- Will computational biology push the next breakthrough in plant biotechnology and breeding? (Moderator: Prof. Dr. Zoran Nikoloski)
- The future of plant agriculture (Moderators: Prof. Dr. Alisdair Fernie and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsanko Gechev)
The organizers from the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) Plovdiv and Biotech Atelier will bring scientists from leading academic and industrial institutions located in Bulgaria and Germany.
