THE FIRST ONLINE TRAINING UNDER THE PROJECT “SCIENCE AND JOURNALISM: TOGETHER AGAINST INFODEMIC” WAS HELD
On 23-24 February, 2022, the first online training under the project “Science and Journalism: Together against Infodemic” was held.
The main purpose of the event was to put into practice the training module so that the last could be adapted and improved by the feedback from the participants.
36 journalists and academic representatives participated and evaluated the work of the trainers.
Lecturers of the event were Maria Sheresheva (AEJ-Bulgaria), Ivan Radev (AEJ-Bulgaria), Rosen Bosev (AFP); Vedat Sevincher (Norsensus Mediaforum); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vesela Kazashka (CPSBB), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Margarita Ruseva (Plovdiv University); Nikolay Bliznakov (Neohron Agency); Stoyanka Tsatcheva (Trakia University, Stara Zagora).
Main topics of the event were:
– Why and how to fight the online misinformation;
– Online fact-checking;
– Existing platforms for online fact-checking (with examples from Norway);
– Ethics and moral in science and journalism;
– True, half-true or outright lie? How to counter scientific misinformation?
– Scientific methods for data analysis
– How to communicate effectively scientific information with the wide audience

The project “Science and Journalism: Together Against Infodemia”, launched in October 2021, provides a series of trainings and fact-checking collaborations. It is implemented with financial support of EUR 91,190 provided by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism. The partnering organizations of the project are: the Association of European Journalists – Bulgaria (AEJ – Bulgaria); Norsensus Mediaforum, Norway; Trakia University; The Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB); The Association for Career Development and Training (ACRO).
