A new tomato variety, developed in partnership between CPSBB and MVCRI, was awarded for best innovation by AGRA 2025
This year’s international exhibition, AGRA 2025, attracted thousands of visitors, including agricultural industry representatives and scientific institutes. The event, which took place from February 18 to 22 in Plovdiv, presented innovative developments, products, and techniques for the needs of agricultural producers, farmers, and hobby gardeners.
With a joint stand at the exhibition, Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute (MVCRI) and CPSBB presented new tomato and pepper varieties, developed in partnership between the two scientific institutes – five new tomato varieties and four pepper cultivars.
The new pink tomato variety “Rozovo siyanie” was awarded first place in the category ‘Innovations in Varietal Seeds and Planting Materials’ during an official award ceremony, organized by AGRA 2025, praising the most innovative developments and products, presented during the three-day international event.
The award was handed to Prof. Dr. Daniela Ganeva, Director of MVCRI and principal breeder, by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food – Mr. Yanislav Yanchev.
The „Rozovo siyanie” fruits are intensely pink, with an average weight of 250-350 g, flat-round to round shaped, with excellent nutritional and taste qualities, without cellulose. The variety is suitable for cultivation under greenhouse and field conditions.
