CPSBB is a consortium member of a large-scale international project for food security in eight African countries

CPSBB is a consortium member of the scientific project HealthyDietsForAfrica (HD4A)
The main goal of the HD4A project is to ensure the food security in eight African countries – Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Uganda. The main focus is the increased access of the population in these countries to a diverse and nutritious diet, as well as to improve the range and quality of food products. The consortium includes 21 research institutes from Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Senegal, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Madagascar, etc.
The researchers in the project’s consortium explore hundreds of lines of vegetable crops – their primary and secondary metabolites, the micro- and macroelements. They also investigate the activity of organic biostimulants on these crops in order to increase their tolerance to high temperatures and drought, as well as their yield and durability.
CPSBB’s researchers visited Cameroon for a week-long mid-term consortium summit in March 2025 with field visits, network discussions with partners and beneficiaries, knowledge-sharing sessions, and discussions with stakeholders. Strategic planning was carried out between the partners in the consortium, evaluating the activities carried out to date and considering future research activities for the successful implementation of the project.
