Students and PhD students from Bulgaria and Romania visited CPSBB
Bulgarian and Romanian students and PhD students in Agrifood and Environmental Economics visited CPSBB as part of a knowledge exchange programme between the University of National and Word Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria and the University of Economic Studies in Bucharest, Romania. The visit was organised in partnership between CPSBB and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Peneva from the University of National and World Economy within the project for digitalization of the Bulgarian agricultural sector – AgroDigiRise.
The visit was part of the Erasmus+ knowledge exchange program and it gave the opportunity for presentation of CPSBB’s research impact on sustainable agriculture, as well as a demonstration of innovative products for the Bulgarian and global markets. It also complied with the efforts of CPSBB’s team to enhance the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students, as the Center has an accreditation for the education of PhD students in “Biotechnologies”.
Prof. Dr. Tsanko Gechev presented CPSBB – the main research activities, some of the scientific projects, as well as the opportunities for education and career development at CPSBB.
The students were also welcomed by Mrs. Svetla Markova, Partnerships Manager of Ondo Solutions. The company partners with CPSBB for the installation of a demo greenhouse where technologies for smart agriculture (automatic precise irrigation, fertigation and climate control) are available for all farmers and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector to test before investing in such technologies for sustainable and profitable farming. The visitors were introduced to the demo greenhouse where a live demonstration of the technologies was organised with strawberries plants.
