Plant Development
Adverse environmental conditions not only affect the plant´s physiology, but also have a strong impact on growth and development. The department focuses on studying the effect of adverse environmental conditions (in particular drought) on the development of vegetable crops (e.g., tomato). The department has a strong emphasis on the role of transcription factors and their gene regulatory networks to unravel the crosstalk between developmental, hormonal and stress-related signalling pathways. Translational research that considers already existing knowledge from model species is of core relevance.
